CHARACTER INFO
Name: Kuroko
Gender: Female
Source: Yandere Kanojo
Canon point: After chapter 38, chilling in the old music room (at night so the school will be empty)
Age: Dead (high school student)
Colour: #325275
Chumhandle: lisztsNightmare

History: It is unclear how long the infamous black spirit girl has roamed the halls of Morinonaka high school. All that's known is that for a while now, there have been rumors. Rumors of a mysterious girl with long black hair, who appears out of thin air in the unused music room and begins playing the old grand piano. Anyone who happens to hear her is in danger, though, for if you are unable to name her song, the consequences will be dire...

That's how the rumor goes, but of course, it's all a load of crap. Kuroko is the temporary given name of the spirit who haunts the abandoned music room. She awoke there one day with no memory of who she was or how she died, and the only thing she could recall was one song. Having nothing else to do, she stayed there and played her song on the old piano. After she was spotted by a janitor late one night, the rumors began to spread throughout the school until they reached the ears of the main characters, delinquent Reina Ryuuzaki and her friends. The group decides to sneak into school at night and investigate the mystery, not expecting to actually find anything. Instead, they run into the ghost playing her piano. She reveals her amnesia, and suggests that she might recover her memory and pass on if they are able to help her remember the name of her song. They agree to try.

There's just one problem with this: the ghost (temporary name "Kuroko", as dubbed by Reina) is completely and utterly horrid at playing the piano. Her "song" sounds more someone randomly slamming on the keys and is actually PAINFUL to listen to. The group stays and listens all night anyway, determined to figure it out, but it's impossible. As morning approaches, Kuroko tells them to forget it, but Reina yells at her not to give up hope. This seems to trigger something in Kuroko's mind. Her memory appears to return, and she thanks them for their help as she vanishes into the morning light.

...which would be a fantastic ending to the ghost story, except that she doesn't actually go anywhere. She just did it to be dramatic. Kuroko decides that she likes her new playmates and chooses to stick around instead of attempting to pass on. Although they react to her antics with annoyance, they quickly come to view Kuroko as a good friend, even going so far as to defend her from an aspiring ghost hunter who wishes to exorcise her (not that she could have done it even if she tried). And wacky adventures were had by all.

Personality: Kuroko is a bit of an odd duck. Most of the time she's very deadpan and expressionless, but don't let that fool you into thinking she's a serious person. She's actually very, very whimsical and silly, and she's capable of saying the wackiest, most nonsensical things with a completely straight face. She seems to have an astonishing lack of self-awareness, acting like she has no idea how ridiculous she's being, but who knows how much of that is an act and how much is the real thing. She's generally very upfront about her opinions and feelings, though whether it's anger or happiness she always says it with the same deadpan delivery. She gets a kick out of snarking at people, making fun of them and handing out backhanded compliments, but it's all in good fun. In the end, she does makes her gratitude and fondness known, but often covers it up with a dismissive comment or a playful jab.

Kuroko doesn't talk about being dead very much. In part this is due to her lack of memory of her former life- it's hard to miss something you can't properly remember, after all. She used to be very lonely, but ever since Reina and the others became her friends she has started thinking of the school as her beloved home and has lost interest in passing on. She certainly doesn't waste any time angsting about being dead. She even delights in celebrating Halloween, because it is a day where she can truly be as goofy and dramatic as she wants, while simultaneously getting attention from others (and stealing their candy). Though she keeps to herself a lot, Kuroko loves when people pay attention to her, and she'll frequently play up her dramatic haunting attempts to get a reaction out of the other students. Despite the frightening rumors this behavior has caused, Kuroko is a relatively harmless spirit. She's pretty lazy, actually, and doesn't like to expend a lot of effort on stuff. The most she'll ever do is scare you a little or steal your lunch when she's hungry. (And as a ghost, Kuroko is ALWAYS hungry. ALWAYS. Guard your snacks!)

Well, she could also punch you if she really wanted. And she won't hesitate to do so when someone is really pissing her off. Kuroko talks like a high class lady even when saying absurd things, but it's not that hard to get under her skin. She'll sulk and gripe about it, taking a small grievance and acting as though it is a monumental offense, but it's rare that she actually gives a shit about it. Usually she's just being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. When something REALLY gets on her nerves, she prefers to avoid the problem altogether. Or, you know, punch it. What a pain, what a pain~

All in all, Kuroko is just kind of a silly girl. She's lazy and acts selfish but truly cares about her friends. She has a weird sense of humor and secretly likes to make things a bigger deal than they really are. Just because it's fun. She seems like someone who maybe didn't have a lot of friends when she was alive, and is truly taking advantage of her newfound free time to experience the carefree life (?) that she always wanted.

Abilities & physical limitations: Kuroko is only visable and audible to certain people, and how well they are able to percieve her varies depending on their own spiritual abilities. Kuroko also floats and passes through solid objects much like a normal ghost ought to, though she can interact with physical objects (and even people) at will.
Appearance: Goddamn look at all that hair.
Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: None!

Strife Specibus: reallybadpianoplayingkind (baseball) Batkind
Prototyping: A day planner some student left behind. Is constantly reminding her of things. ("May 7, 1:00 PM: kill some imps." Thank you, Plannersprite. Thank you.)
Title: Spook of Memory
In-game abilities: Spook is a passive class, useful for information-gathering and support, capable of invoking and relieving fear of or through their domain. The memory aspect means...something. I have no freaking idea! Something to do with memory, I guess! 8D
Planet: The Land of Hammers and Pumpkins is a dark and somewhat gloomy-looking land, covered with forests of dead trees and endless waterways surrounded by dramatic weeping willows. Odd plants resembling piano hammers grow in rows and bunches along the river banks, tapping against the river rocks arrhythmically whenever the wind blows. Huge tangled pumpkin patches weave through the forests, vines twisting around every available trunk, pumpkins of every size littering the groun- wait, What pumpkins? You are quite positive there have never been any pumpkins on this planet, and never will be. Okay no, there were, but they have all been stolen by the planet's denizen! There is not a single orange squash to be found. This is very distressing to the timid black cat consorts, who use the gourds to build their adorable little Halloween-themed villages, but they are far too scared to do anything about it.
